Our Competition Team is formed by dedicated dancers who showcase their talent, discipline and teamwork while representing Candy Jazz Dance Academy in local and national competitions.

What it asks of a dancer

A serious commitment, and worth it.

Competition dancers train beyond their regular class hours, learn multiple routines a season, and travel to events across Florida and beyond. The team is not for everyone and we do not pretend otherwise, but for the dancers who want it, it is the part of the year they remember.

Auditions run each August, at the start of the school year. Dancers do not need previous competition experience, and we would rather see commitment than polish.

Everyone gets a stage, not only the team.

Whether or not a dancer competes, every student performs in the annual production at the Miramar Cultural Center or the NSU Performance Theatre. Ten years, ten shows.

Competition Team details

This section is built and ready. We need the following from the studio before launch:

  • Audition date, time and format for the coming season
  • Additional cost of the team: fees, costumes, travel and entry
  • Weekly rehearsal commitment expected of a team dancer
  • Transparent versions of the Headliners, ADE, StarPower, Imagine and LEAP logos
  • Placements and awards worth listing from the four seasons

Three steps, none of them online.
