Executive Director & Producer

Maria Mercedes Barbella is an environmental designer by training and a co-founder of Centro Integral Candy Jazz, established in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2009. Her organizational experience and commitment to the arts have been essential to the academy’s development in both Venezuela and the United States.

As Executive Director and Producer of Candy Jazz Dance Academy in Davie, Florida, she oversees the academy’s administration and plays a central role in coordinating its artistic projects, performances, and special events.

Since the Davie academy opened in 2016, Maria Mercedes has produced each of its annual stage productions, helping bring every performance from its initial planning to the theatre. Her work includes the academy’s themed productions and the MEMORIES 10-year anniversary showcase at the Miramar Cultural Center.

Candy Machado

Instructional Supervisor & Choreographer

Candy Machado has dedicated more than four decades to dance as a performer, teacher, choreographer, and artistic director. She trained in Venezuela, Miami, and New York, including studies at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center.

Her professional career includes performances with Ballet Jazz de Caracas and work in Venezuelan television with RCTV, as well as experience in commercial and theatrical productions. Throughout her career, she has taught jazz, tap, and ballet, sharing her knowledge and passion for dance with generations of students.

As Instructional Supervisor and Choreographer at Candy Jazz Dance Academy in Davie, Florida, Candy continues teaching every week. She plays an essential role in the academy’s artistic development, guiding its dancers, instructors, choreography, and stage productions while preserving the teaching tradition that has defined Candy Jazz since 1980.

Artistic and Executive Director, Choreographer, Jazz

Pedro E. Guerra Machado comes from a family devoted to the art of dance. The son of Clemen Machado and nephew of Candy Machado, he trained in jazz and contemporary dance in Spain, where he also served as Artistic and Executive Director of Academia de Música Increscendo in Tenerife, Spain.

He continued his training at Centro Integral Candy Jazz in Caracas and later at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in New York, where he studied jazz, ballet, tap, and contemporary dance.

Since 2015, he has served as Artistic and Executive Director of Candy Jazz Dance Academy in Davie, Florida. There, he leads the academy’s academic and artistic planning, choreography, and the production of its themed and holiday performances.

Sonia Palacios

Sonia Palacios

Flamenco Instructor

Sonia Palacios is a dance instructor and choreographer specializing in flamenco, contemporary, lyrical, and commercial jazz. She trained at Candy Jazz Dance Academy in Venezuela, Pasión Flamenca Academy, and Broadway Dance Center in New York, and completed flamenco workshops with Siudy Garrido and Carmen Terife.

With more than two decades of experience, Sonia has performed, taught, and choreographed in Caracas and Vargas, Venezuela. She later served as Director and Flamenco Instructor at the Sonia Palacios Dance Center. Her classes combine flamenco technique, stage experience, and a passion for helping students develop rhythm, expression, and confidence.

Natalia Rocamonde

Ballet Instructor

Natalia Marie Rocamonde is a ballet instructor, choreographer, and performing artist with a B.F.A. in Dance from New World School of the Arts. Her training includes the Martha Graham Winter Intensive, ArchCore40 with Jennifer Archibald, and Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory.

She has taught ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance to students from early childhood through their teenage years at Kirova Ballet Academy, Ballet Etudes, BBharts Performing Arts, and Dance Zone Studio. Fluent in English and Spanish, Natalia creates a nurturing and structured environment where young dancers can develop strong technique, creativity, and confidence.

Laura Moradillos

Laura Moradillos

Ballet & Creative Dance Instructor

Laura Moradillos is a ballet instructor who trained at Ballet Etudes, Florida Classical Ballet, Intensity Dancers’ Studio, and Dance Center of Florida. Her performance experience includes classical productions such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, and Sleeping Beauty.

Her experience as a dance teacher, children’s entertainer, and event coordinator has strengthened her ability to connect with young students. Laura creates a positive and structured classroom where dancers can build ballet technique, confidence, creativity, and a lasting appreciation for artistic expression.

Tatiana Tejeda

Hip Hop & Tap Instructor

Tatiana Alise Tejeda began dancing at age two, training in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, flamenco, musical theatre, lyrical, and hip-hop. Throughout middle and high school, she performed with an award-winning dance team at an arts conservatory school and earned recognition as a Florida State Dance Champion.

She also volunteered as an instructor for elementary school students before beginning her professional teaching journey. Tatiana currently teaches hip-hop and tap while continuing her college studies and dance training. Her energy and versatility help her create engaging classes where students can build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy dancing.

Samantha Castillo Aguerrevere

Samantha Castillo Aguerrevere

Hip-Hop and Tap Instructor

Samantha Castillo Aguerrevere began her dance training at the age of four at Centro Integral Candy Jazz in Caracas, Venezuela, where she studied jazz, hip-hop, and tap for eight years. In 2017, she continued her training at Candy Jazz Dance Academy in Davie, Florida, expanding her studies to include ballet.

During high school, she earned a degree in Performing Arts with a concentration in Dance. She also competed for two seasons, performing both group routines and solos.

Today, she continues developing as a dancer while teaching hip-hop and tap.

Angely Carucci

Angely Carucci

Salsa Instructor

Angely Carucci is an international dancer, choreographer, and instructor with more than 25 years of professional experience. Her career includes Q’Viva! The Chosen, On Your Feet!, and work alongside artists such as Daddy Yankee, Gloria Gaynor, and Oscar D’León.

With more than 20 years of teaching experience in Venezuela, Italy, and the United States, Angely is certified by the F.I.P.D. in Italy and has served as a judge at international dance competitions. As Candy Jazz Dance Academy’s salsa instructor, she combines musicality, technical discipline, and an energetic teaching style that helps students grow in confidence and performance quality.

Yehudry Perdomo

Yehudry Perdomo

Acro Instructor

Yehudry Perdomo is a former competitive gymnast, professional dancer, and certified personal trainer. Representing Venezuela, she became a national youth champion, earned gold at the Venezuelan National Youth Games, and won an international silver medal in rhythmic gymnastics.

Her background combines gymnastics, acrobatics, conditioning, ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. Yehudry is certified through ISSA and has trained with USA Gymnastics. She also performed professionally in television and live productions in Venezuela. As Candy Jazz Dance Academy’s Acro instructor, she emphasizes strength, flexibility, safe progression, and confidence.
